Selling Jewelry Online
I am surfing the web at 3 am and trying to figure out the best places to sell jewelry. Here is the list I have compiled so far: iCraft (Canada), DaWanda (Great Britain, France and Germany), Etsy, Shop Handmade, America Creates, Artful Home, Soleyne, Object Fetish, 1000 Markets, and of course my site ArtJewelryOnline.
Here's my opinion:
Etsy...Okay for price points under $100 but a challenge to sell more expensive work. I like the fact that you can advertise and track your visitors on Google Analytics.
Shop Handmade...Free to sell by selecting a sponsor like addicted to rubber stamps. I noticed lots of cutsie stuff on this site but I also found some talented jewelers.
iCraft...Free to sell 5 products or less. Not sure how to categorize this one. Primarily a Canadian site that has a full range to low to moderate priced goods.
Artful Home...juried work and tough for jeweler's to participate. Lots of artists doing jewelry but they get lost in all the furniture, glass etc.
America Creates...A newer juried site. They are still working out the technology kinks but appear to be a site for better jewelers. The take a 25% commission when work sells.
1000 Markets...I do not like that they use Amazon for checkout. Amazon has no support system. I prefer Yahoo and Paypal.
Soleyne...Advertises that they are more art than craft. Still in their infancy but appear to be headed in the right direction.
DaWanda...Totally free to sell here. Tough to work the overseas market, but very easy to use and set up shop.
Object Fetish is new to me so if you have any experience I would love to hear it.
ArtJewelryOnline...of course I love this one it is my site. What I like most is that I sell jewelry and nothing else. Not accepting new artists now but keep in touch for future openings.
Would love to here opinions about these and other shops.

I love the fact that 1000 Markets uses AmazonPayments. They have a huge support system! So many people already have an Amazon account and that can be used for AmazonPayments and their A-to-Z Guaranty is incredibly comprehensive. Couple more reasons too... AmazonPayments provides a great experience overall. You don't see an order until money is in your account, which means no more dead beat buyers! 1000 Markets doesnt bill you separately, their fee is part of the transaction. Also, buyers can check out with a cart that has items from several merchants, all at once, no separate checkout for each seller.
i bought several pieces from ObjectFetish because the quality is so good - they are specialist in real artists. i've bought a few not so serious things from etsy - not from 1000 which seems same to me as etsy. these artists on objectfetish have even posted videos and resumes - i'm considering something by this fellow from spain: http://www.objectfetish.com/jewelry/tasso-mattar-v-65.html
Thanks for the input on 1000 Markets and Object Fetish.
I am having some big problems as an Amazon seller. For example, they said that I needed additional approval before I set up a jewelry store. Even though I had already sold individual items through their store. I never received approval nor have I opened the store but they still keep sending me a bill. GEEZ. I am sure this is the exception to the rule but this exception has been a headache and with no phone support it makes it difficult to resolve issues.
I just found out that Object Fetish is not accepting new artists at this time (bummer).
At Artful Home we are always looking for new artists and new work. We will be introducing new taxonomy to make finding work easier for buyers and for helping artists stand out. There will be several changes forthcoming in jewelry, and I hope you will give us another look. We DO sell a large quantity of art jewelry, and can be a very good source for many jewelry artists.
Lisa, Thanks for the update on Artful Home. It is a beautiful site and I am happy to hear there is going to be a bigger focus on jewelry. Keep us posted.
